Primary Issues: Battle for the White House

50+ voters will select who will be the President of the United States for the next four years.

  • The incumbent is a weakened President who has difficulty controlling his fractious party, does not have a majority proof congress and has not been able to budge the high unemployment rate. He has used much of the first two years of his presidency and political capital to bring forward a Healthcare bill which is being challenged in the courts and he has conceded that “entitlements” will have to be reduced. This President also has the lowest approval rating of any incumbent in modern history at this point in the election cycle.
  • Republican challengers for the Presidency, conservatives and the tea party movement; view “entitlements” as potential places to make cuts and to hold firm on pledges not to raise taxes and to cut spending.

Where does this leave the Boomer and Senior voter? This second episode of Prime Votes proffers answers to this question.

Anchored from studios in Washington DC and hosted by Cokie Roberts and Sam Donaldson and with Consuelo Mack contributing from New York, and John Palmer contributing from the field, the RLTV team seeks to find the answers on the second of a four-part series.

We will go out to 50+ voters and ask them to “have their say” and express their views about what they are looking for in a Presidential candidate and what are the qualities of presidential leadership.

We will ask our Republican and Democratic pollsters to explain and make sense of surveys that have been conducted on presidential leadership and satisfaction with the direction the country is headed.

Guests Include:

Former Congressmen Dick Armey – CEO Freedom Works and Tea Party
Douglas Brinkley – Presidential Historian
Ben Stein – Actor, Political Commentator
