Primary Issues: A House Divided

With the economy still struggling and the country involved in multiple military operations overseas, the public’s mood is fractious. Based on polling data, 50+ voters are fed up with elected officials. Congress has a 15% approval rating because polling data indicates that the majority of 50+ voters believe that both political parties are not acting in the people’s interest. Congress and its inability to do the peoples business based on compromise has left 50+ voters fearful and vulnerable.

From studios in Washington, Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts and Consuelo Mack in New York, and John Palmer in the field we interview two pollsters Mark Mellman and Frank Luntz who advise congressional candidates running for office. They will provide insight on the battleground states and vulnerable congressman; who will be the winners and losers in the next congressional elections.

The Hosts will interview the key leaders in the House and Senate and explore the question of what will it take for elected political leaders to work together to solve America’s problems. We will challenge elected representatives who call for the reduction in entitlement programs to explain their position to the 50+ voters. We will challenge elected representatives who call for maintaining or increasing the current rate of spending on entitlements to explain to voters what the effect of borrowing and continued deficits will do to this and future generations.
