About The Show

From the people who deliver hot meals to over six million seniors a year, to the flavorful recipes that viewers can make their own, Good Food, Good Deeds dishes out helpings of health, education and inspiration in equal measure.

Produced in partnership with The Meals On Wheels Association of America, Good Food, Good Deeds is a lively, transformative half-hour series combining the excitement of a cook-off, and the poignancy of real-life drama, all underscored by the urgency of a health crisis threatening over six million seniors daily.

Each episode also whips up a side dish of food and soul. Every week Florence Henderson and nutrition expert Joy Bauer will show viewers how to shop for, cook and serve dishes that will delight the taste buds and feed the body in all the right ways. Take one part cooking show, one part real-life drama, a dash of star power, a generous helping of heart and serve warm.

EPISODE GUIDE

Episode 1 – Los Angeles

Florence and Joy cook up a delicious low calorie meal of mini turkey meatloaves, green beans and mashed sweet potatoes while sharing cooking and nutrition tips and having a little fun. Florence volunteers at St. Vincent Meals On Wheels facility in downtown LA. Surprised by the volume and diversity of meals produced at the facility, Florence digs in and helps out. She starts a pie-cutting contest, helps with a variety of food prep, and bonds with the volunteers. Later, Florence delivers meals to a man on his birthday – even singing a birthday song. She also encounters a distressing situation where one client isn’t answering the door. Concerned for his safety, Florence enlists the help of the Meals On Wheels team. It is a fulfilling day of new experiences and emotional connections that highlight the amazing work the Meals On Wheels volunteers do every day, providing more than just meals, to seniors in need.


Episode 2 – Richmond

Florence and Joy cook up a delicious grilled chicken salad while sharing cooking and nutrition tips that everyone can use. Later, Linda volunteers at the Meals On Wheels facility in Richmond, VA and meets MOWAA CEO Enid Borden. While there, she witnesses the quick response of the Meals On Wheels volunteers and staff as they jump into action to handle an emergency. When the refrigeration unit breaks and 300 more meals need to be made, Enid and Linda dig in and help out. While delivering meals Linda meets a Vietnam vet with a story to tell and saves a woman who left her stove on. After a day of heart warming stories, eye opening experiences and extraordinary teamwork, Linda feels the full impact of what Meals On Wheels is really about.


Episode 3 – Orlando

Florence and Joy cook up a delicious and nutritious chicken and vegetable curry dish, low in sodium, rich in flavor and easy to make. Then, Mariette is put to work in the Meals On Wheels Kitchen in Orlando, making mounds of carrots and green beans, and tray after tray of roasted potatoes. While racing to finish packing meals for over 1500 people, equipment failures put the client deliveries in jeopardy. Later, Mariette delivers meals to a feisty client, and helps another client with her missing dog. A day of hard work, adventures and camaraderie highlights the amazing work of the Meals On Wheels Association.
